Shopping with a purpose

I have been frequently asked by my colleagues ” where do you shop ben?”, and everytime I have the same feeling that I must have gone for shopping with a purpose. This is not to contradict what I had earlier stated in one of my blogs right here. People generally have this common thing in their mind when they step out  for shopping; ” showroom looks”, nothing wrong with that. I buy a lot of stuff from these so called  ”showrooms”…even better is the fact that I buy more stuff off the streets literally.

Fashion magazines of the day  feature designer ensembles and feature cheap buys that would give the same looks…now my point here is not just to buy cheap stuff and copy but try mix matching the clothes in as many different looks that could compliment the wearer. Sometimes a colourful hand painted wooden neckpiece could entirely lighten up a plain outfit where  heavily diamond studded chokers could have no clue. The idea here is to be not in a rush to put everything in that closet on your body like there is no tomorrow…clothes in the closet can wait so concentrate on the look and stick only to that keeping in mind what flatters your body. Dressing to please is okay….but dressing to please the fashion of the moment is a mistake.

“Fashion is so ugly that it needs to change itself every six months”….this is what I read about sometime long back in a fashion magazine. An individual shows to the world what kind of a person he or she is from the way they dress (we know it’s a cliche).
