My friend Asen has always been obsessed with the fashion industry since the time I know her. I’ve always noticed her style of writing (about the fashion business) was a class apart. And if you’re passionate about something, you should definitely do something about it. I’m living proof of that. Hence, this is a little effort from my side to transform her passion into something really big.

Coral Hub is known for having festive specials with lots of cool offers. Along with the wide array of Diwali related products we have on the store, we also wanted to give our customers an overall Diwali experience. And this is exactly what was done to the homepage.

Keeping the layout exactly the same, I just played with the UI and came up with this very interesting Diwali look. Loved by one and all, I hope our customers have a great experience shopping, as well.

What they needed:

KKTC India is one of the very few organizations who are a pleasure to do business with. I had developed their first website in 2007 and I felt privileged to get the opportunity to redesign it again. In a span of three years, they have expanded significantly and the same had to be portrayed in the new design.

What did I do:

Apart from giving the website an international look, I worked to improve the user experience as well as legacy browser support. A very unique drop down menu was introduced to the header which made it easier to navigate to any part of the website. CSS3 was extensively used to add to the effect. Tiny details like hover effects and focus states were also an important part of this project.

The Result:

The end result came out pretty well to the client’s satisfaction. This has got to be my best redesigns to date.

After my 3 year stint in media giant Yahoo! India, Coral Hub was the next step in my career. If you know me well, you would know that I specialize in User Interface & Front End Development. And this is exactly what I get to do here on a full-fledged basis.

Also the fact that Coral Hub is not yet a well-known e-commerce brand, I along with my team have the opportunity to actually propel it to stardom. Considering it’s a start-up, we’re doing pretty well with more than 100 orders each day. There is continuous development on the website and the entire look and feel is my responsibility.

It has been almost two months here, and I’m enjoying each and every single day here. Because it’s not just a job, it’s passion!

I may be doing a lot more than just designing in my professional career, but deep down inside, I am and always will be a designer. I simply love designing interesting new layouts and hand-coding them. It’s been almost a decade since I first started doing this and I have indeed come a long way. This was the best time to start up something of my own. Also, the reason that clients here in India don’t have a budget when it comes to having their own websites, sparked the idea of WebsiteWonder.

Website design for proposed property Yahoo! India Mini TV in association with Airtel.

The site would have basically been an Indian version of Yahoo!’s global property Primetime TV. Shows across various general entertainment channels (Indian) would be available for viewing on the property. With Airtel on board, entire shows would also be available via your mobile handsets. Features would include integration of other awesome Yahoo! products like Flickr. Social media integration goes without saying.

What they needed:

A lot of artists + music groups out there are unable to promote themselves in spite of being incredibly talented. Muzic Matters, through its effective network and keen understanding of the music scene, offers these artists a platform to promote their musical talents. Likewise, they required a website which would include a huge repository of artists, events, news and interviews. In short, they wanted a CMS based website which would make it real quick to update the heap loads of information coming out of the Indian music scene.

What did I do:

I decided to use WordPress as my CMS engine as I had already witnessed a lot of developers exploiting the power of this blogging engine to come up with extraordinary CMS solutions. Obviously, the base design + colours had to adhere to the parent company viz. Faia Group, so technically, all the focus was on the development side and lesser on the design side. And since this was the first time I tried my hands on WordPress, I was really glad that the amazing people at Muzic Matters gave me complete liberty over the time I took to complete the project.

The Result:

A first for my portfolio and a great one at that. I definitely did put a smile on the client’s face with this one.

UnCannies ’09 by Yahoo! India

Panel design for the winner announcement section on the front page of UnCannies ’09.

The website was live and pretty much in action (like it is every single year). The winners were selected by the esteemed jury. And I was asked to design a panel which would have all the winner names listed. Care had to be taken, for the panel required to blend in with the current design. And that’s exactly what I did.

There was one more alternate design for the same panel, but it just didn’t get through. Anyway, you can check it out by clicking the ‘Preview’ button below.

What they needed:

C-Shels has been in business since 1978, but they were known by a different name back then. Come 2009 and they had a major re-branding, one of the aspects being a brand new name. However, while they had a good reach in the markets all over India, they wanted to establish themselves online.

What did I do:

The site had to look good (of course) and usability was on top of their list. The goal was to make product information easily available from the moment a customer entered the site. This meant that attention had to be paid on every single page in terms of usability, ease of navigation; and also ensuring quick download of each product literature. The interface went through a major change as per client’s suggestion since they wanted their site to look warm and bright rather the initial layout (which was dark and sleek); however, maintaining the web 2.0 feel.

The result:

A fresh and a very simple interface without too many complications make this website a breath of fresh air.
