Sly One vs. Jurrane – Everything To Me

Make way for another bomb set to blow you away. This is complete mayhem! The greatness in this track comes from the beautiful vocal work while the background encompasses a lot of interminable and dreamy sound scapes and an inexhaustible geyser of beautiful melodies.

The fine story begins on a weekend at a sleepover with Asen & Apoorv. We had a couple of exciting drinks and some amazing starters. Whilst having dinner, Apoorv plays this awesome tune which instantly catches my attention. And the b*stard tells me that it’s a brand new tune by Tiësto featuring the vocals of Anthya titled "Maddening Lights". I actually believed him, bounced to the track a lot of times and even blasted it while on my way back home.

A day passes by, and another too. I somehow come across the playlist of ASOT and I realize I’ve been made a fool into believing this is Tiësto’s production. Nevertheless, this tune still made it to my top favourites of 2010.

Now, just for a moment, if Tiësto does quit collaborating with the American yo-yos and returns back to his original roots, I’m sure his production would sound exactly the same. Great stuff by Sly One and Durrane! My ear would always want to be closer to this track!

The Thrillseekers – Savanna

Inspired by the plains of Africa comes the heavily anticipated new track from The Thrillseekers aptly titled "Savanna". Influenced by the sunshine it really sets the scene for summer.

A balearic beauty in its own right, this tune will even give Balearic King Roger Shah the chills. I would love to listen to this on a lazy night at the beach, all by myself, waves splashing and palm trees swaying! Ace work Steve!

This could easily be my tune of the year!!!

James Horner – I See You (Cosmic Gate Remix)

‘Avatar‘ redefined the cinematic experience by taking it to a level never ever attained before in history. Cameron waited patiently for almost a decade to start work on this movie as he believed that technology (for production) wasn’t sufficient enough then. The movie exploded at the box office with unimaginable numbers and broke all previous records including that of Titanic (another Cameron movie) which held the title for a long 11 years. ‘Avatar‘ didn’t only surpass ‘Titanic‘, it went a step ahead and grossed more than $0.8 billion than the former. It’s a shame the movie didn’t win an Oscar for ‘Best Picture’, which only proves my long held opinion of the Oscars being sh*t!

Anyway, when Cosmic Gate received a remix request from James Horner himself, they were very excited and honoured as much as they knew that the mix had to be as good (if not better) than the blockbuster itself. And very much to our expectations, they delivered a techy bomb which easily manages to rip off the roofs!

George Acosta – True Love

Miami based DJ / producer George Acosta drops his first release on the Songbird imprint. The track is a perfect example of state of the art vocal trance and features the captivating vocals of Fisher. We are dealing with one of those outstanding cuts that would perfectly fit on Tiësto’s hailed ‘In Search Of Sunrise‘ series.

All the ingredients are there: crisp beats, soft padded strings, warm synths, and a tantalizing break that, combined with the addictive chorus, will most certainly urge the party people on the dance floor to stay there for the rest of the night. The sun drenched sound of the cut is perfect for those long, hot summers where the DJ is the one that takes you on that lovely trip until the sun comes up.

I might be posting this too early on, but well, this definitely is the Valentine theme track of 2010!

Binary Finary – 1999 (Kay Cee Remix)

I have always been fascinated with this track right from my early college days which span back to almost a decade. And since the past couple of days I’ve been r*ping the tune continuously, be it in the car, at home or while I’m working. A beautifully engineered piece of brilliance, this tune definitely stands tall amongst our contemporary anthems. I wouldn’t exactly call this tune an anthem, because this is more than just that! Beautiful uplifting textures building up until it becomes so good it’s just unbearable.

Urban Astronauts – See The Sun (Aurosonic Remix)

I begin twenty ten with last year’s smash track "See The Sun".

Penned for Matt Darey’s new act ‘Urban Astronauts‘, Kate wrote the lyrics to "See The Sun" back in the spring of 2009. With a great remix package, the track is kicking up a storm with the Aurosonic Remix as leader of the pack.

Also worth checking out is the Moonbeam Remix as the duo take the track to another level with their heavy industrial feel.

19 something, Steven Baan aka Estiva is one man to have proven the fact that music is powerful than visuals – and words too. Making 2009′s September a memorable one with his record "I Feel Fine", it could no less put me into an indulgent state of music. The juvenile synths create dissembling array of sparkles before my eyes, and as I have more of it, I find myself in one of the most inexplicable states of self-betterment – finding myself reaching for the future – a future that awaits me – with beautiful tunes like this.

I’d see this tune as highly experimental and in the best of its virgin-ous state. Top class stuff!

Floyd – Essence Of Love (Club Mix)

Floyd breathes new life into a trance scene that seems to have put the breaks on deep, uplifting trance anthem-esque tunes. Listen to some of the biggest trance anthems of late 90s and you will get a clear picture of what I’m trying to relate here. "Essence Of Love" is yet another gem to spawn from the trance capital of the world – Netherlands, with none other than our very own Ron van den Bueken behind the guise!

This boy genius from Sweden presents us with the grand uplifter "Galandia". You don’t need to wait till the break down to get into the mood, really. Just start dancing your way and trust me, the break down DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! Also keep your aural senses delimited as the nasty bass line (which Marcus is known for) will just hit you at the right spot!

Stoneface & Terminal – Santiago (2AM Mix)

On the first listen itself, the break down caught my attention. It’s the sharp and minimal synth line which captures so much of the allure for me. But the affair doesn’t last long before the tune abruptly begins its tech-trancey groove. And you’re left wondering why the 7 minute track features just over a minute of the sample? Strange, really! But well, the break down itself is pretty enough to have this tune in my hall of fame.
