Windows vs. Mac
2007 at 3:38 PM, Thursday
There have always been endless debates over which one is better from the two. And Mac users have always been arrogant, citing that old "computer for the rest of us" advertising. And some of them claim that Windows users are equally the same when it comes to being aggressive. I just happened to surf the net on the same lines and all I could find were pages showcasing Mac’s superiority over Windows. So here I write about, why Windows has always been better than the Mac and always will be.
01. User friendly
Admit it or not, but Windows is the most user friendly OS out there in the market. It’s ease of use is undeniable. No doubt Mac’s have never been used for computer-literacy campaigns.
02. UI:
Now this one can differ from person to person. But I think that too much use of deep shadows even on puny applications can be a hardcore RAM consumption issue for the Mac and may even slow it down.
03. Raw Speed:
Windows PCs have a serious edge here. Where time is money, processor speed can be very important. Regardless of how hard Mac advertising attempts to claim that the slower clock speed Macs are really just as fast as a PC, it just isn’t so and proven so by every bench test out there. If you have the "need for speed" in gaming, software development, 3D rendering and other applications, Windows is the clear winner here.
04. Video subsystem:
Windows open architecture and PCI bus allow a wide non-saturated video subsystem. Video cards are made which exceed 6 Gigaflops of geometric rendering. Mac, though PCI has a severely bottle-necked video subsystem, so if you’re into advanced 3D rendering, then the Mac is strictly not for you.
05. Legacy application support:
Windows XP can effectively run nearly any DOS or Windows application written within the last 25 years. This level of legacy support is unrivaled in the industry, let alone the Mac.
And in spite of all the criticism, remember that Windows makes a lot of software for the Mac including Microsoft Office which was created by a separate department for the Mac. Now why a software giant who’s predominant in the market would make such a move?
This entry is dedicated to the launch of the extravagant Windows Vista. Waiting to get my hands on the OS.
